Overview

Map of Sierra Leone
Sierra Leone is one of the smallest countries in Africa. Situated on the coast of West Africa, this densely populated country has been devastated by over ten years of civil war which displaced more than half the population and created enormous economic and social problems. Since the elections held in 2000, the situation has been slowly returning to normal, but much of the infrastructure remains damaged.

Our Work

In partnership with the Jees Ministries, we started our work in Sierra Leone in 2007 when the director and founder Kai Manyeh decided to participate in rebuilding his native land. Since then, Hope Direct has been actively involved in rebuilding the lives of 250 under-privileged children and orphans by offering them educational sponsorship. We have constructed our first orphanage in Kono District. Our vision now is to build four houses that will become homes for orphans living on the streets of Kono City, seven classrooms each for primary and secondary schools and two houses for overseas volunteers. Each house will accommodate six children, who will live with a trained social worker. This school will also be open to other children in Kono city.

Guinea and Cameroon

Hope Direct also supports orphans and underprivileged children in Guinea, Conakry and Cameroon. Please e-mail us if you want more information or wish to support children in these countries.
